Script-Fu -> Effects Selection - Bevel

This is an adjustable script,
it generates a bevel around a selection.

In the example below, I selected the white areas with the magic wand... everything around the boy cartoon character. Then I inverted the selection and then applied the
Script-FU > Effects Selection > Bevel Selection

As you can see.... it lends itself to a mild 3D-ish appearance.
